Joyful Noise Memorial Bell Choir

The Joyful Noise Memorial Bell Choir has joined the chime and bell choir of the Methodist Church. We usually rehearse on Wednesdays from 6:15 PM -7:15 PM alternating between our church and the Methodist Church; we typically play on the 3rd Sunday of each month (but if the Buffalo Bills are playing at home on the 3rd Sunday, then we will play on the 4th Sunday!!!) – all is also on pause until further notice. If you know someone or if you are interested in playing with us, please join us on Wednesday evening. We are so fortunate to have handbells and we want to continue making Joyful Noise with them.

Yates Christmas Program

It took us 3 days (Monday-Wednesday) to organize in Crosier Hall the toys from Basking Ridge, New Jersey, then on Thursday and Friday we had local social agencies come in to review the donations – we did not want them overwhelmed when they came into shop for their clients. The next Monday – Friday we had about 9 agencies come into Crosier to shop for their clients. The next Monday, we put 2 tables out front of the church on the sidewalk under the office window and loaded them with some of the toys that were left; the next morning, so much was gone that we put the remaining toys on the tables. On Wednesday morning, there were only a couple items remaining, and with the big snow storm approaching, we put the tables away and took the small box of remaining items to the Once Again Shoppe. Thank you to everyone who helped setup, assist the agencies with their shopping, and help breakdown and cleanup – it takes a loving village!!

Yates Christmas Program - Deju vu

Deja vu – This may look like the picture from our previous newsletter, but it is not – this is truck #2 with more GREAT donations from our sister community in New Jersey. Phil Bracht (aka ‘Not Bob’) and Bob Gillespie (aka ‘Bob III’) did the down-in-one-day trip this time, leaving here at 6AM on Saturday, November 20th, getting to New Jersey at 10:15AM, loading the truck with our New Jersey friends, back on the road at 12:30PM and arriving back at our church at 5PM. This time it took us 45 minutes to unload – you may ask why – because this time we got a 20ft truck (the last truck as 15ft!), and it was packed to the gills, and some items had to be left behind in New Jersey – and yes, we are making plans to get the remaining!!! Thank you again to the UHaul group on Clinton Street for giving us a discount on the truck – thank you to Phil and Bob G – thank you to our sister community in New Jersey – thank you to those who helped unload – we are truly a family where we could not do this without you!

Yates Christmas Program

The Yates Christmas Program is doing things differently this year – it could not have the regular giveaway at the Armory or at our church in an abundance of caution for the volunteers and shoppers, but the program is finding unique ways of giving. Phil Bracht and Bob Constantine drove a 15 ft Uhaul down to New Jersey to Lori Dahlberg’s home to collect the wonderfully generous donations from her community – the packed-to-the-gills truck took 2 hours to pack but when it arrived at our church, it took our team only 30 minutes to unpack!!! Once we process the donations, the program is working with local missions and businesses in Penn Yan and Dundee to get the items out into our community.
